A House ethics committee on Thursday brought 13 charges against Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) as efforts to reach a settlement failed.
Rangel, who did not attend the hour-long meeting, fired back in a 32-page statement, claiming that ethics investigators overstepped their jurisdiction and trampled on his Constitutional rights. It was only 13 charges......
Around the same time sexy Russian spy Anna Chapman was deported, Federal agents busted yet another Victoria’s Secret agent.Anna Fermanova, a stunning 24-year-old English teacher from Texas, was nabbed for attempting to smuggle state-of-the-art night-vision gear to Russia, according to court papers.
With a $13 trillion debt, why is the Department of Justice spending money on parties and rollercoaster rides rather than investigating crime, drug cartels, prosecuting terrorists?Untold millions of your tax dollars are paying for recreation in the name of crime prevention: pool parties, rollercoaster rides, and police donut-eating contests. The idea is that fun activities keep kids out of trouble, build self-esteem and prevent crime.Pool parties maybe, but police donut eating contests?
Sen.Tom Coburn, R-Okla., estimates well over $100 million tax dollars over five years has been spent on recreation to fight crime. Coburn says poor tracking leads to questionable spending. At least $200,000 was spent for officials to attend conferences at golf resorts in Florida and Palm Springs, or a film festival featuring “Santa, The Fascist Years.”I know with the way Government spends, a million is like a nickel but good grief!
Correspondence obtained by The Sunday Times reveals the Obama administration considered compassionate release more palatable than locking up Abdel Baset al-Megrahi in a Libyan prison. The intervention, which has angered US relatives of those who died in the attack, was made by Richard LeBaron, deputy head of the US embassy in London, a week before Megrahi was freed in August last year on grounds that he had terminal cancer.
The document, acquired by a well-placed US source, threatens to undermine US President Barack Obama's claim last week that all Americans were "surprised, disappointed and angry" to learn of Megrahi's release. And now the "mad bomber" could live for another 10 years. And it was known before he was released.
LAS VEGAS – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, seeking to console liberal activists who were disappointed by the final version of the national health care law, assured them that there would eventually be a public option
“We’re going to have a public option,” Reid said. “The only question is when.”Harry is in the right place, with the rest of those nuts. Keep him there until his room at the state hospital is ready! Dirty dingy bastard.....
Washington - Charles Rangel's legal bills are piling up as high as the campaign cash he's raking in to pay for his ethics defense. That leaves the Harlem Democrat with no choice but to run for, and win, a 21st term in the House to keep raising campaign money to pay legal fees - which top $1.7 million, records show.If he resigns, good old Chuck might have to pay his own legal bills (too freaking bad). Much better to use campaign cash (someone else's money) to pay them. Chuck should be in prison for the swindles he pulled in the past.
